El Matador State Beach Surprise Proposal | Katelyn and Andrew

It's always a surprise when we get an inquiry for a proposal and we absolutely love doing them. We don't always promote them, but we love them for the authentic emotions each one brings.

When Andrew called us and let his know his plan, we couldn't happier for him and his soon-to-be fiance, Katelyn. They were actually visiting from the New York area and since they were out in Malibu Andrew wanted to pop the question in one of the most beautiful places in Southern California. We couldn't blame him and we absolutely loved his ideas.

As a photographer, it's always hard to know when the question will be asked. We know how nervous the guy usually is and we're so anxious to see their reaction so we're patiently hiding and to be honest it feels a bit "stalker-ish". I mean we're running around, hiding behind rocks, bushes, etc trying not to blow our cover, yet be ready for "that moment".

When Andrew texted me that they arrived, we waited for them to come down to the beach and since Katelyn had no idea who we were we still wanted to keep a safe distance so we didn't blow Andrew's plans.

After about what felt like 20 minutes of running around the beach, quietly following them from a reasonable distance, we say Andrew get down on one knee and Katelyn's emotions broke through. She was so ecstatic and we couldn't be more happier for them!

Andrew definitely knew how much his girl loves the beach and he picked the perfect spot to propose. We were so glad to be a part of their story so far and here are a few images to show how it went down. Simple, yet perfect.

Have a wonderful day and enjoy their surprise proposal!

Laguna Beach Engagement Session | Kate and Jeff

Through the hustle and bustle of life, it's so easy to get caught up in the stress of everything going on and it may be hard to take time out to allow ourselves to let our true feelings out. It may be cliche, but we absolutely love bringing out the best in our couples and we hope we were able to do that for Kate and Jeff.

We've been to Laguna Beach many times for various engagement sessions and weddings and this session was very intimate. I'm not sure where to start as the vulnerability and raw emotion that Kate and Jeff brought to their engagement session made it an absolute pleasure to witness and we can't wait until their wedding day to celebrate with loved ones.

Kate and Jeff may seem like you're everyday friends, which they are, but when they got comfortable they became overwhelmed with emotion as they realized the reason why they're getting married. They let themselves love on each other in a way that let the other person know they deeply cared for them. I'll let the images speak for themselves as their story is personal and unique yet their love for each other was on full display.

Enjoy and be sure to give them some love in the comments!

Santa Barbara Hyatt Wedding | Georgia and Peter

We can't express how much we love Santa Barbara. We love Santa Barbara Weddings even more. And to photograph Georgia and Peter in Santa Barbara for their wedding was absolutely awesome and we loved every minute of it.

They were so relaxed and easy going throughout the whole day, we had to remind ourselves we were at their wedding! Their family and friends were so warm and welcoming and to be able to celebrate their wedding with them was so much fun!

Here are a few previews of their wedding story as we saw it unfold and we hope you enjoy their images. Be sure to leave your blessings in the comments below!

If you or someone you know is getting married and love our images, drop us a line and we'd love to hear what you have planned!

Much love,

Laguna Beach in January

72 Dees-grees in January???!!! Were my eyes going back to my pre-Lasik prescription??!!! This past Saturday, we told the kids to get ready 'cause we were going on a day trip to the beach. Yep... To the beach. In January.

The drive down to the end of the world as we know it in Southern Cali was beautiful. The OC traffic was heavy, but we could smell the salt in the air and we were destined to put our toes in the sand. Once we got there it was such a beautiful sight to see so many people hustlin' and bustlin' in shorts and flip-flops.

We ate an awesome lunch @ La Sirena Grill, capped it off with gelato and the kids had fun making sand-holes/tunnels (we didn't bring sandcastle making materials). We also got to check out the tidepools and saw so many hermit crabs, anemones, mussels and a beautiful sunset. A glimpse of summer in the middle of winter was an awesome feeling. I gotta say it was a good day.
